With us your project is in the most capable hands, and you have ultimate control over the outcome
The process starts with a home visit from our directors. Whether you have full architects drawings or just an idea, whatever stage you are at we can advise you on everything from planning applications to kitchen layouts, all before providing you with a full breakdown of the cost of the build.
All projects are designed using 3D CAD software, not only allowing us to meticulously plan every stage of construction, but also providing a 360° vision of our proposal, which can be viewed by yourself to make any amendments that you see fit.
Frames are then hand cut in our workshop by skilled carpenters. Your frame is assembled in it’s entirety in our framing yard to ensure that everything is perfect, before being transported to site for installation.
All aspects from groundwork to kitchen fitting are carried out and overseen by Trussed Oak and its trade partners.
Rest assured that we are on hand at all times to assist with your queries or concerns.
Oak is a sustainable material, whose strength and beauty endures for generations
Green oak framing is so called as the timber used in your frame is 'green' at the point of fabrication. This means that the timber has been recently felled, and still has much of the moisture content that it had while still in the ground. It may be some years after completion of your project before the timber is fully seasoned and dry, during which time it gradually becomes stronger and lighter, while developing cracks and 'shakes' that define the unique beauty of every oak frame.
The inherent strength of oak has been exploited for hundreds of years, finding it's greatest uses in architecture and shipbuilding.
From the ancient hammer-beam trusses used in the palace of Westminster, to the icebreakers used on ships for polar exploration, oak has consistently proven it's worth.
The oak in your frame is no different, and as it ages it continues to get stronger and lighter.
Oak offers great potential for architectural styling, and there can be many different ways of approaching a single frame, dependent on your personal preferences and the other building materials being used.
An oak frame can be contemporary or traditional or anything in between, and we can always try to incorporate your own personal touches and flourishes.
Oak is perfectly suited to being used in conjunction with all other methods and materials, again both new and old, to create a building like no other.
All of our oak comes from FSC Certified forests, meaning that for every tree felled, as many as ten saplings will be planted in its place. And as a naturally occurring product, it has a considerably smaller carbon footprint than that of steel frame or concrete buildings.
The true beauty in oak is not just in its appearance, but in the knowledge that this living material is the structural entity holding up your entire building.
And as it continues to age and season around you, the true beauty of oak begins to appear, providing intrigue and unique character in all parts of the building.
